TV guide: where to watch tennis in 2022?

Without last minute renewals, a black screen will appear for new tennis competitions in 2022.

Find our TENNIS TV AGENDA to find the broadcaster for each tournament, each week.

No change this year in the broadcast of the Grand Slams (ATP and WTA). As for several seasons, beIN SPORTS will offer Wimbledon (until 2023). Eurosport will continue to broadcast the Australian Open, whose rights were renewed last September for ten yearsas well as the US Open, for the last edition provided for by the contract signed in 2017.

At last, France Télévisions and Amazon share the rights to the Roland Garros tournament until 2023. As a reminder, the public channels will retransmit the exchanges from 11 a.m., except for the meetings of the Simonne-Mathieu court and the evening sessions, boxes which in 2021, on Amazon Prime, often hosted beautiful posters for ladies and gentlemen. , including two quarter-finals.

Eurosport will offer the nine Masters 1000, the thirteen ATP 500 tournaments, numerous ATP 250, the Nitto ATP Finals and the Next Gen ATP Finals. The agreement, which runs until 2023, includes the two French tournaments, the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters and the Rolex Paris Masters, which may no longer be broadcast free-to-air this year.

No more French Masters 1000 finals in the clear?

CANAL+ held until this year the rights to co-broadcast the semi-finals and final of the Monte-Carlo tournament. For the time being, no renewal or new acquisition by another channel has been announced to continue the free-to-air broadcasting of this competition. Will it meet the same fate as the Finals? For three years, the event that closes the men’s season no longer has a clear window in France. However, the group could acquire the rights without committing to a period, as it did in 2021 with the Rolex Paris Masters, broadcast unencrypted on C8.

ATP 250 on Eurosport (and BeIN SPORTS?)

Eurosport will broadcast many ATP 250s thanks to the acquisition of a large part of the men’s circuit in October 2018, except for the four French tournaments in this category. Last year, beIN SPORTS indeed broadcast the ATP 250 of Lyon, Montpellier, Marseille and Metz which were previously offered on RMC Sport before the channel withdrew from broadcasting tennis. It should also be noted that in 2021, the regional channel ViaOccitanie broadcast a large part of the matches of the Open Sud de France in Montpellier.

update (01/31): L’Équipe has acquired the free-to-air rights to the four French ATP 250s to broadcast the two best matches, a semi-final and the final every day on its Live digital platform. beIN SPORTS has confirmed that it will offer the Montpellier, Marseille and Lyon tournaments in full.

update (01/31): The Open Sud de France (ATP 250 Montpellier) will be broadcast on beIN SPORTS, viàOccitanie and L’Équipe Live.

The final stages of the French Challengers on beIN SPORTS

Two years ago, the French Challengers came together under the banner of Race Challenger France. The establishment of this circuit aims to promote the tricolor tournaments of the ATP Challenger Tour, thanks in particular to a partnership with beIN SPORTS. The finals of the French Challengers were thus broadcast on the channel in 2020 and 2021. The partnership will be maintained this year, as specified by the channel in its press release announcing the extension of the rights of the WTA (see below).

update (27/01): the distribution of the French Challengers seems to be done on a case-by-case basis depending on the commitment of the organizers to finance this device. Thus, the Quimper tournament is not broadcast on beIN SPORTS at the end of January.

Note that France 3 NoA could broadcast the final of the Pau tournament as in the last two years.

update (11/05): France 3 Aquitaine will broadcast the final of the Bordeaux Primrose tournament with beIN SPORTS.

The Laver Cup and the ATP Cup on beIN SPORTS

beIN SPORTS should remain the exhibition tournament channel between Europe and the rest of the world, as it has for several years. The channel also offered the ATP Cup in the first week of 2022 to kick off the tennis season.

As for wheelchair tennis, the deadlines of the French Riviera Open, in singles and doubles, for men and women, could be broadcast on CANAL + as the channel has been doing for several years.

In women’s tennis (excluding Grand Slams), beIN SPORTS renewed last December for five seasons its major contract allowing it to offer the WTA 1000, WTA 500 and some WTA 250 and WTA 125 (including those of Strasbourg, Lyon and Paris) as well as the WTA Finals.

As for international team competitions, a void is emerging. beIN SPORTS has not yet renewed the broadcasting rights for the Davis Cup and the Fed Cup. A clear window is even less relevant for these two competitions, remodeled a few years ago, and only broadcast on the pay channel in 2021.

update (28/02): L’Équipe will broadcast on March 4 and 5, live and unencrypted on its Live digital platform, the meetings of the qualifying round of the Davis Cup which will oppose France to Ecuador.
