The 90min predictions for the 2022/23 Bundesliga season

The Bundesliga resumes its rights on August 5th. The German league has weakened in terms of raw talent with the departures of Erling Haaland and Robert Lewandowski in particular. From now on, the noose could tighten at the top of the table.

The 90min FR editorial team has met and here is our prediction for the upcoming German 1st division season.

Robert Lewandowski

Bayern Munich will keep their crown in our opinion. The Bavarian team lost an offensive heavyweight but recovered another. Robert Lewandowski left, Sadio Mané arrived. The German champion has signed weight reinforcements with Ryan Gravenberch, Noussair Mazraoui and Matthijs De Ligt.

For us, nothing seems to oppose a new crowning of Bayern during this edition 2022-2023

For us, the big surprise of the season will be played in Wolfsburg. The Wolves have managed to keep many of their stars like Maxence Lacroix or Maximilian Arnold.

This Germanic team has what it takes to make its big comeback in the Champions League in 2023. For this, it will be necessary to count on a great Lukas Nmecha on the offensive front.

Christopher Nkunku

For us, RB Leipzig risks falling into line. After a legendary return phase last season, Christopher Nkunku’s teammates will struggle to do as well.

The squad did not increase during the transfer window and the results will always depend as much on the French international. The RBL are likely to finish outside the top 4.

The top 3 are not likely to move much, in our opinion. We should find Bayern Munich in first place, then certainly Bayer Leverkusen. With its intelligent transfer window and its infernal eleven, Florian Wirtz’s team has what it takes to take second place.

Borussia Dortmund should remain on the bottom step of the podium. Finally, the fourth qualifier in the Champions League would be Wolfsburg for us.

In the Europa League, we would find RB Leipzig and again Union Berlin well stabilized in C4. In our opinion, Hoffenheim would return to Europe by grabbing the sixth position synonymous with the Conference League.

Few surprises in the three relegated for us. VFL Bochum will inevitably struggle to win in the Bundesliga. It’s a club with an average eleven, small means but with a grateful public. This team has the profile of the bottom of the class.

Then we would certainly find Stuttgart, a club that narrowly escaped the play-offs last season. It will be difficult to repeat the same feat without any class reinforcements.

Same observation for Augsburg, a club in great financial difficulty and close to the red zone in 2022-2023. We think this team will play the play-offs.

Patrick Schick

Patrik Schick now has free rein to take the top scorer rank. Robert Lewandowski gave him free rein to take control of the standings.

The Czech international scored 24 goals in just 27 games last season. Like our feelings about the upcoming performances of Bayer Leverkusen, we believe that Schick can be the best artificer in Germany.

Thomas Muller

Thomas Müller distributes around twenty assists in the league each season. The German international has lost his attacking partner, Robert Lewandowski, but should acclimatize with Sadio Mané.

There is no doubt that the 2014 world champion has the capacity to once again maintain his level of excellence this year.

Neuer manual

No change for almost a decade, Manuel Neuer is and should remain Germany’s greatest. The German international also has a lot to prove in order to keep his starting place in the bars of his selection for the World Cup.

If Neuer stays on the same momentum as the end of last season, there will be no suspense at this level.
