It’s been a long time since French water polo had such a party. For three days, the eight best men’s teams and the four best women’s teams in the French Elite championships met in Abbeville to compete in the Pierre Garsau-Alice Milliat Trophy (January 28-30, 2022). A federal initiative which will have enabled Marseille and Lille to consolidate their domestic domination while offering the clubs involved a demanding cup format with three confrontations in three days. The opportunity also to allow young French hopefuls to repeat essential efforts to express themselves on the international scene. Two and a half years from the Paris Games, and almost a hundred years after the first Olympic title for a French team sport, the discipline has just launched an ambitious seduction operation which should enable it to win the hearts and attention of the public. tricolor to better shake up the world hierarchy.

The success of the first edition of the Pierre Garsau-Alice Milliat Trophy organized in Abbeville from January 28 to 30 the Marseille armada against the Ile-de-France residents of Cercle 93 * The Abbeville competition will also have enabled a broad review of the workforce in view of the next international deadlines, starting with the Paris Olympic Games in 2024 * The French swimmers have, for their part, reconnected with the large pool during the Nice stage of the FFN Golden Tour-Camille (February 4-6) * On this occasion, Florent Manaudou won “his” 50 m freestyle ahead of Maxime Grousset in a duel that will not fail not to spice up the rest of the Olympiad * Aurélie Muller, for her part, won the 5 km indoor French championship disputed in Sarcelles on January 29, beating Lisa Pou and Madelon Catteau * Among the boys, the national title onal returned to Alexis Vandevelde ahead of Jules Wallart and Swann Plaza * On January 27, the FFN and its partner Sportall inaugurated FFNatation TV, a new 100% swimming video platform to follow federal events live and in replay as well as videos and unpublished reports on the five Olympic disciplines * During the extraordinary Congress of the LEN which was held in Frankfurt at the beginning of February, the Portuguese Antonio da Silva was elected president with a majority of 96% * On this occasion, the president of the FFN Gilles Sezionale was appointed vice-president of the continental institution * The disappearance of Marc Crousillat, player of the French team engaged in the Seoul Games of 1988 and leader of the Promotional Water-Polo League in the 2000s * After two years of absence due to the global pandemic of Covid-19, the Open de France of artistic swimming will make its big comeback from April 1 to 3, 2022 at the Georges Vallerey swimming pool (Paris) *
